Light heavyweight veteran Glover Teixeira turned back the clock earlier tonight (Sat., April 27, 2019) at UFC on ESPN+ 8 live on ESPN+ from inside BB&T Center in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, to finish rising contender Ion Cutelaba via second-round submission (rear-naked choke).
Teixeira had to stomach a massive scare early on as Cutelaba blasted him with a huge spinning back fist in the opening round. Cutelaba rushed in and put the pressure on Teixeira but the Brazilian fighter ultimately recovered. In Round 2, Teixeira started to get more aggressive and was able to get Cutelaba to the ground. That’s where he worked his way to full mount, landed big ground-and-pound, and eventually sunk in the rear-naked choke finish when Cutelaba turned over.

With this performance, Teixeira locks down his second-straight win after taking out striker Karl Roberson via submission back in January. The 39-year-old veteran also locked down his 10th career finish inside of the Octagon. Following the fight, Teixeira called out former opponent Corey Anderson, who defeated the Brazilian last year via decision. We’ll see if Teixeira gets his wish in 2019.
