Luis Pena put a brutal stop to Matt Wiman’s Octagon return earlier tonight (Sat., June 22, 2019) at UFC on ESPN+ 12 from inside Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville, South Carolina, when he finished the veteran lightweight via third-round TKO (punches).
While Wiman threatened throughout this fight with countless leg, knee, and ankle locks, it was Pena who landed the more meaningful shots. After opening up Wiman with a brutal knee in the clinch in the early part of the fight, “Violent Bob Ross” took his offense to the next level. From combinations on the feet to crashing ground-and-pound, the rising lightweight fighter didn’t let off the gas. In the end, he was able to get a stoppage in the third round as Wiman’s defense off his back started to wither.

With this performance, Pena locks down his second-straight UFC victory and his second finish inside of the Octagon. Pena wasn’t presented with many obstacles in his fight with Wiman, who was competing for the first time in nearly five years, but the former Ultimate Fighter standout still showed progression in his overall game. It was a nice performance for the man known as “Violent Bob Ross.”
