After asking to face Chris Leben, and dispatching the middleweight in the first round on New Year’s Day, it appears that Brian Stann (10-3) will get his wish once again.

“I think I’d like to fight Wanderlei [Silva] next. He’s a guy that I’ve watched for years. Before I ever put a glove on. He’s amazing. He’s as tough as they come, as good as they come, and a multiple weight champion. I think I’d like to fight him next, but I’ll be prepared for anybody.”
MMAFighting.com reports that UFC President Dana White is looking to book Stann into the octagon with “The Axe Murderer” Wanderlei Silva (33-10-1, 1NC) for the former PRIDE champions return.
Once a date is set, Silva will have been sidelined for over a year recovering from injury and surgery. Silva broke three ribs in training last June preparing for a fight with Yoshihiro Akiyama and then had knee surgery in late July.
“The Axe Murderer” is coming off a unanimous decision win over Michael Bisping in February of last Year at UFC 110, the victory helped him bounce back from back-to-back losses. The fight was his first as a middleweight fighter in the UFC. So far he sports a 2-3 record having lost to Rich Franklin at UFC 99 and Quinton “Rampage” Jackson at UFC 92 in those two defeats.
Stann is probably coming off of his biggest UFC win after stopping Leben at UFC 125 by TKO in the first round of their co-main event bout. The former Marine is 4-2 as a UFC fighter and recently dropped from light-heavyweight to 185 lbs last year going 2-0. He submitted Mike Massenzio at UFC Live: Jones vs. Matyushenko in his middleweight debut and lost a unanimous decision to Phil Davis at UFC 109 in his last fight at 205 lbs.
