The UFC may be planning its first trip to Colorado since March 2010 with a Sept. 24 event in Denver – though official word is still mum.
The promotion on Thursday announced a fight between UFC Hall of Famer Matt Hughes and Diego Sanchez for this fall. Later Thursday, Hughes said on his website the fight will take place on that date in the Colorado capital city.
On Friday, Marc Ratner, the UFC’s vice president of regulatory affairs, could not confirm the date – but did tell MMA Fighting a return to Denver would be for an event at the Pepsi Center and not at the 1stBank Center in Broomfield, Colo., north of Denver.
