What you may have missed from last night

The last UFC on FOX event last night (Sat., Dec. 15, 2018) from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, was a great one, a fitting end to the FOX era. Edson Barboza threw his whole arsenal at Dan Hooker, who took it all like a superhuman zombie before Barboza finally folded him with a final body shot. The all-time greatest of action grapplers, Charles ‘Do Bronx’ Oliveira, managed to tap Jim Miller in a little over a minute. In the main event, Kevin Lee and Al Iaquinta did battle for 25 straight minutes before “Raging Al,” the underdog, pulled off a narrow but unanimous decision win by pouring it on late.

Iaquinta wants to parlay his success over a formidable opponent into an opportunity against one of only two other fighters to beat “The Motown Phenom”, uncrowned lightweight champion Tony Ferguson. Ferguson had his interim lightweight title stripped after a freak knee injury earlier this year, but returned to demolish Anthony Pettis in the co-main event of UFC 229.

Al thinks his style is the perfect foil to Ferguson’s aggressive, unorthodox approach.

I think Ferguson’s the guy. You know? I think I have the perfect style matchup to beat him. If there’s any holdup, that’s the guy I want to fight.

It is far from the only potential matchup at lightweight. Justin Gaethje called out “that raging little bitch”, which would also be an absolutely fire fight that was actually booked earlier this year. Dustin Poirier needs a dance partner, too, and Edson Barboza just bounced back with a fantastic win of his own. Additionally, Conor McGregor himself was the first name on Al’s lips after his win at UFC Milwaukee, and that matchup would be a blast, too.

So, Maniacs, who do you want to see Iaquinta rage out against next?
