Francis Ngannou staked his claim for a title shot by knocking out Junior Dos Santos in the main event of UFC Minneapolis.

In the main event of UFC Minneapolis, Francis Ngannou knocked out Junior Dos Santos in just over a minute to stake his claim for a UFC heavyweight title shot.

What was the high point of the fight?

Ngannou opened the fight with a leg kick, after a brief exchange Dos Santos landed a kick of his own but both men hadn’t yet landed anything of real significance.

A massive right hand followed by a leg kick from Ngannou left Dos Santos exposed at a bad angle. “The Predator” connected with a big punch behind the ear of ‘JDS’ that dropped the Brazilian, and Ngannou wasted no time by following up with ground and pound to finish the fight.

Where do these two go from here?

Already being ranked at the number-two slot before this fight with Dos Santos, the impressive win for Ngannou extends his winning streak to three and undeniably makes him next in line for a title shot after champ Daniel Cormier rematches Stipe Miocic at UFC 241 in August.

The loss is Dos Santos’ first in over two years and it also snaps a three-fight winning streak for the Brazilian. ‘JDS’ probably would have been in Ngannou’s shoes if he was to get the win tonight, but instead the 35-year-old will need to rack up a few more wins to ever have hope of getting another title shot.

Watch it now, later or never?

It lasted 71 seconds and had a big KO. You’ll want to watch it now.
