Randa Markos scored her first Octagon finish earlier tonight (Sat., Mar. 23, 2019) at UFC on ESPN+ 6 live on ESPN+ from inside Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee, when she submitted women’s strawweight mainstay Angela Hill via first-round armbar on the preliminary portion of the event.
Markos needed to make this a dirty fight to limit Hill’s striking and she did just that with a takedown over a minute into the first round. Hill tried to defend Markos’ advancements but “Overkill” simply couldn’t stop the Canadian. Markos moved around as she pleased until she finally found a window of opportunity to grab a hold of Hill’s arm. Markos locked on, straightened Hill out, and eventually forced the tap.

With this performance, Markos gets back into the 115-pound win column after losing to the streaking Nina Ansaroff last July and then fighting Marina Rodriguez to a draw in September. The 33-year-old old fighter has always been better than what her record may indicate and this may finally be the win she needs to string together some success in a wide-open UFC women’s strawweight division.
