Matt Schnell made history earlier today (Sat., Aug. 3, 2019) at UFC on ESPN 5 inside Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, when he scored the second-fastest submission finish in UFC flyweight history when he stopped rising contender Jordan Espinosa with a 83-second triangle choke.
Schnell and Espinosa both landed crisp punches on the feet before Espinosa shot in for a takedown. On the way down Schnell was able to grab a hold of the neck and crank for a guillotine choke. Espinosa defended nicely and Schnell was forced to let go, but immediately transitioned into a triangle choke. Schnell tightened his hold and really started to put pressure on his flyweight counterpart until Espinosa tapped.

With this performance, Schnell locks down his second-straight submission finish after taking out Louis Smolka back in March and his fourth-straight win since late 2017. “Danger” is one of the more entertaining finishers in the up-and-down flyweight division and could certainly score a big-time fight his next time out after taking out Espinosa in fashion.
