The first bout for December’s UFC 140 event appears to be in the works between lightweight newcomers John Cholish (7-1) and Mitch Clarke (9-0).
News of the possible matchup was announced by MMAWeekly.com on Friday after learning of the fight through sources close to the fight, noting that only verbal agreements were in place at this time.
UFC 140 is expected to take place on December 10 at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto, Ontario. This will be the second event held in Ontario with the first being the promotions first arena event, UFC 129, which broke records with an attendance record of 55,000 spectators.
Cholish (pictured) is a member of the Renzo Gracie Jiu-Jitsu academy in New Jersey and works full time as a stockbroker in New York City. He has won seven straight fights, with two TKO’s, four submissions, and one decision victory. His last fight was in June, where he earned a second round submission victory at a CFFC 9 event in Atlantic City, NJ.
Clarke fights out of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada and has yet to taste defeat in nine pro-bouts. He’s earned 1 TKO win, six by submission, and two by decision over his career. His last match was in April, earning a decision win at a local EFC 8 event in Lloydminister, Alberta.
