It had the unfortunate timing of following last weekend’s blockbuster UFC 217, last night’s UFC Fight Night 120 from the Ted Constant Convocation Center in Norfolk, Virginia, delivered an entertaining night of action-packed bouts culminating in a brutal, bloody war between Dustin Poirier and Anthony Pettis in the main event.
Poirier took home a victory with a strange sort of submission the referee ruled a TKO after former champion “Showtime” appeared to injure his ribs, but not after the two lightweight contenders engaged in one of the most heated back-and-forth scramble exchanges of the year.
In other action, Matt Brown secured a possible storybook ending to his career when he knocked out Diego Sanchez with a massive elbow, Andrei Arlovski picked up a much-needed win by halting the rise of heavyweight prospect Junior Albini, Raphael Assuncao viciously knocked out Matthew Lopez, and Clay Guida destroyed longtime fan favorite Joe Lauzon.
It ended up being a wild night of fights, so watch the combatants discuss the action in the post-fight press conference streaming live right here:
