Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) booked a sensational strawweight match up — one with serious title implications — for the upcoming UFC on FOX 19 mixed martial arts (MMA) event on April 16, 2016, according to MMA Fighting.
That’s when Tecia Torres (7-0) will give Rose Namajunas (4-2) a rematch inside the Octagon, after the “Tiny Tornado” was able to capture a unanimous decision win over “Thug Rose” under the Invicta banner back in 2013.
Both ladies were later recruited for The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 20; however, Torres was unable to reach the finals, which saw Namajunas fall to Carla Esparza for the 115-pound title.
Torres is 3-0 since graduating the FOX Sports 1 reality show, having recently out-pointed Jocelyn Jones-Lybarger at UFC 194. Namajunas, meanwhile, rebounded from her “Cookie Monster” loss to choke out Angela Hill and Paige VanZant in back-to-back fights.
Who takes the rematch?
UFC on FOX 19 is expected to feature a lightweight main event pairing between top contenders Tony “El Cucuy” Ferguson and Khabib “The Eagle” Nurmagomedov, while “Suga” Rashad Evans and Mauricio “Shogun” Rua bang it out in the light heavyweight co-main event.
