UFC on FOX: Johnson vs. Moraga (aka UFC on FOX 8) is expected to take place on July 27, 2013 at the Key Arena in Seattle, Washington. The event will see flyweight champ Demetrious Johnson defend his title versus top contender John Moraga.
Herman crossed over to the Strikeforce promotion last January to take on former promotion champ Ronaldo Souza at the Marquardt vs. Saffiedine event. ‘Short Fuse’ would wind up losing via kimura submission in the first round. Prior to that Herman would have a decision loss to Jake Shields changed to a “No Contest” after Shields failed a post-fight drug test at UFC 150.
This bout marks Smith’s debut in the Octagon, moving over from the Strikeforce promotion after two appearances in three starts. ‘Hot Sauce’ lost via third round submission in his last fight, losing to Tim Kennedy at the final Strikeforce show last January. Smith dropped to middleweight in his prior match, competing at the BXC – The Rise event, submitting Alexandre Moreno in the first round.
