UFC on FOX: Weidman vs. Gastelum live results, discussion, play by play

Live, blow-by-blow updates for today’s UFC event in Long Island, which features a middleweight contender fight as the headliner.

Join us today on Bloody Elbow for live results, discussion, round scoring, and play-by-play for UFC on FOX 25, which goes down in the Nassau Coliseum in Long Island, NY.

The headliner will take place in the middleweight division, with New York’s own Chris Weidman looking to break a losing streak when he meets 185-pound upstart Kelvin Gastelum.

Live results and play-by-play will commence early, as is traditional with Fox cards, with the Fight Pass broadcast at 4 pm ET/1pm PT. There will be five fights there before the card moves to big Fox for four more preliminary bouts starting at 6pm ET/3pm PT. Finally, the four-fight main card will kick off at 8pm ET/5pm PT.

Lyman Good vs. Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos

Round 1 – Zaleski caught a Good kick and tried to take him down. He only stayed there for a second though. Zaleski holds onto Good’s back in a standing position against the cage. Good separates. Nice uppercut by Zaleski. Solid leg kick. And another. He keeps landing it. Good caught a kick and jumped on Zaleski on the ground. Doesn’t stay there long though. Zaleski back to the leg kicks. Nice counter right too. Good landed a right and cut Zaleski. Body shot from Zaleski, but Good cracks him back with a left and chases him down. 10-9 Zaleski.

Round 2 – Good with a left hook that scores. Good with some jabs and a hard right. Good keeps punching himself in the face every time Zaleski lands. That’s a bit weird. Flying knee from Zaleski doesn’t work. Hard right from Good. Thai clinch for Zaleski, and he lands a couple of knees to the body. Good with another big right hook. Zaleski scoops a single but just eats punches so he lets it go. Countyer right from Zaleski. They brawl a bit. Straight from from Good. Zaleski knocks him off balance with a spinning back fist. Hard knee to the body from Good. Body kick from Zaleski. HUGE Zaleski flying knee connects right on the chin and Good just takes it. Wow. Body kick from Zaleski. 10-9 Zaleski.

Round 3 – They’re brawling right away. Spinning kick misses for Zaleski. Good with a knee to the body and a short left. 1-2 from Good. Huge left hook from Zaleski. NA right too! They both land jabs. They brawl in the clinch. Hard outside leg kick from Zaleski. They both land rights, but Good’s was more flush. Good with a bunch of body shots. Zaleski responded with a knee to the gut. Side kick to the belly for Zaleski. Side kick again. Good clubs him wit ha har dright. They brawl to the horn. Zaleski wobbles him late! Wow, that was a close round. I’ll go 10-9 Good by 29-28 Zaleski.

Eryk Anders vs. Rafael Natal

Round 1 – Inside leg kick From Natal. Right from Sapo. Front kick. Counter right from Natal. Big shots from Anders! Natal fires back with a left hook. Anders stuffs a takedown and lands a head kick. Another shot staggers Natal and he runs all the way across the cage and into the cage wall! That was amusing. Anders jumped on him and landed a couple of punches, but Natal reset. Anders backed Natal up on the other side of the cage, landed a huge left hook and slept Natal! Beautiful!

Ryan LaFlare vs. Alex Oliveira

Round 1 – Oliveira stuffs a a takedown attempt as he dances around on the outside. LaFlare ties him up against the fence. He gets the takedown but Oliveira immediately attacks an arm. LaFlare gets it out and works from side control. LaFlare not throwing any strikes, just controlling position. Oliveira couldn’t explode out. LaFlare looked for an arm late but couldn’t secure it. 10-9 LaFlare.

Round 2 – LaFlare lands a right hook. Oliveira stuffed a takedown and landed a hard right. Inside leg kicks as well. Front kick from LaFlare. Oliveira landed an uppercut and LAFLARE IS OUT! ONE SHOT KO!

Damian Grabowski vs. Chase Sherman

Round 1 – Both land short punches. Grabowski with a jab, Sherman fires back with a combo. Sherman with a nice head kick. Grabowski tries for a half-hearted takedown but couldn’t get anything. Leg kick from Sherman. Solid 1-2 from Sherman. Left hook from Grabowski, Sherman responds with a leg kick. Hard knee to the face on the inside from Sherman. Right and a leg kick too. Grabowski lands a right but eats a hard counter. Sherman kicking the inside and outside of the lead leg. Big overhand right from Grabowski. He landed it again. Sherman with a huge leg kick that hurt Grabowski. He opened up against the fence and Grabowski fired back. 10-9 Sherman.

Round 2 – Outside leg kick from Sherman. Grabowki with the winging right that lands. Leg kick and head kick from Sherman as Grabowski was leaning in. Hard jab from Sherman. Sherman with a counter left and a head kick. Grabowski goes to the body. Hard outside leg kick from Sherman. Back to the body for the Polish fighter. Short right and a knee to the body for Sherman. Nice combo from Sherman on an advancing Grabowski. Grabowski glancingly lands that big winging right hook. Sherman fired back immediately though. He opened up with a big flurry. Knee to the chin and body from Sherman. Grabowski with an uppercut. 10-9 Sherman.

Round 3 – Sherman backs Grabowski to the cage and kicks the leg. Eye poke from Sherman. Jab from Sherman. Grabowski shoots in but can’t get the takedown. Grabowski with a left. Outside leg kick from Sherman. Both men breathing heavy. They both go to the body. More leg kicks from Sherman. Grabowski finds a home for the right hook. Another hard right. Sherman stuffs a takedown attempt and lands a knee to the head. Short elbows form Sherman. Grabowski with a right, Sherman with a left hook. Another short elbow from Sherman. Another leg kick too for good measure. Jab from Grabowski. 10-9 and 30-27 Sherman.

Kyle Bochniak vs. Jeremy Kennedy

Round 1 – Kennedy with a takedown four seconds into the fight. That was damn quick. Bochniak made it to over to the fence but is still be held down. Kennedy not throwing many strikes, but he’s completely controlling position. Now Bochniak gives up his back. Kennedy with a hard elbow. Bochniak gets back to his feet but is still tied up. They finally separate with 1:15 to go. Kennedy with three knees to the body and a takedown. Very nice. Easy 10-9 Kennedy.

Round 2 – Kennedy clinches up against the cage. Kennedy gets down on the legs and gets the takedown. Bochniak up to his knees, and to his feet. But he’s back down. Kennedy’s on his back now. He’s opening up with lefts. Bochniak gets back up, then back down. Kennedy with a hard shot. Bochniak swept and escaped. He stepped up to Kennedy and…got taken down. He goes back to grinding. Bochniak looked for the sweep again but the horn went. 10-9 Kennedy.

Round 3 – Kennedy with a lead knee. Inside leg kick. Bochniak actually stuffed a takedown attempt. They trade rights. Another big right from Bochniak! Inside leg kicks from Bochniak. Ball shot from Bochniak. Cornuts cam confirms the cup check. Say that three times fast. They restart and Kennedy lands a nice counter right. Inside leg kick from Bochniak, and a nice combo. Knee and right from Kennedy. He goes for a takedown but Bochniak fights it off. He runs away and Kennedy chases him down. Kennedy finally gets the takedown. He worked over to the cage and controlled position. He landed a hard elbow near the horn that cut Bochniak open. Closer round, but 10-9 and 30-27 Kennedy.

Brian Kelleher vs. Marlon Vera

Round 1 – Nice right from Kelleher. Vera defended a takedown. Kelleher with a hard body shot. Kelleher presses him against the fence. He tried to back out but Vera kept his a hold of his arm. Kelleher took it to the ground and immediately went for an armbar. And he got it! Wow! That was beautiful!

Junior Albini vs. Timothy Johnson

Round 1 – Johnson presses forward with a combo. He presses Albini against the fence. For a while. They separate with three minutes to go. Johnson with an uppercut., Albini with an elbow and a body kick. Albini with a combo ended with a right hook to the ear and a knee to the body and Johnson is down! He opens up with GnP and it’s over! Wow, didn’t see that coming!

Shane Burgos vs. Godofredo Pepey

Round 1 – Pepey spins right way. Spinning back fist is blocked. Jab from Burgos. Nice right too. Pepey with a head kick and a left. Hard jab from Burgos. Wild spinning back fist and a right from Pepey. He charges in for a takedown. Burgos with a knee that drops Pepey. He tells him to get back up. Uppercut and straight right puts Pepey down again, but he sort of just flopped there to get Burgos to engage him on the ground. Burgos was having none of that though. Pepey immediately went for a takedown when he got back to his feet and slowed the pace. He couldn’t get it though. Combo from Burgos. Knee to the belly from Pepey. Overhand right from Pepey. Right hook from Burgos. They trade jabs. Burgos countering well. Pepey looked for another takedown against the fence. 10-9 Burgos.

Round 2 – Pepey with an early knee. Burgos lands a couple of counters. Jab from Pepey. Pepey pulled guard but Burgos wasn’t falling for it. Hard counter left hook from Burgos. Pepey with a jab and a right hook. Burgos going to the the body. Over the top right hook from Pepey. Burgos with his hands down. Pepey pulled guard again. Burgos lands two hammerfists and backs out. Pepey begs him to engage on the ground, but you know that’s not happening. They trade jabs. Burgos with a straight left. Pepey with a knee. Pepey pretty exhausted and he flops to his back again. The crowd boos. Burgos with a combo. Pepey with an uppercut. Two rights from Burgos. Pepey wit ha left hook. Hard jab from Burgos. Again. Burgos manages to pull guard and hold Burgos. 10-9 Burgos.

Round 3 – They’re nodding at each other before the final round. They both play to the crowd and start throwing big punches. Pepey lands a couple of wild rights. Burgos with a short left hook and a jab. Two more jabs. Inside leg kick. Burgos with a knee to the body. Pepey missing with wild shots. More jabs from Burgos. He’s fighting at a more measured pace. Inside leg kick from Burgos. Pepey ties him up and looks for a takedown. Uppercut on the break from Pepey. Burgos with his hands down, throwing jabs from the hip. Body shot from Burgos drops Pepey! He lets him up again. Two hard right hooks. Pepey looks for a takedown and pulls guard. Two hard shots on the ground from Burgos. Round 1 – Both looking for flashy kicks right away. Wade presses Perez against the fence looking for a takedown. He gets it. Perez isn’t doing much on the bottom. He tries to squirm away but gives up his bac. He did get back up but Wade is still all over him. Perez reverses and he’s looking for a takedown now. He gets him down to his knees. Wade’s back to his feet with a minute to go. Two knees from Perez and a beautiful leg sweep takedown by Perez. He lands a few punches before Wade gets up. Wade hits a throw and traps an arm, but he can’t capitalize on it. 10-9 Wade.

Round 2 – Perez with a combo. They trade kicks. Wade with a lead right hook and a body kick. Nice left. Perez misses with a spinning back kick. Wade looks for a takedown but gets swatted away. Wade with a takedown. Perez upside down and is looking for an inverted triangle. He escapes. Perez pushes off the fence but couldn’t free himself. Perez returns to his feet with a minute to go, but Wade is staying on him. Perez fights him off for the rest of the round. 10-9 Wade.

Round 3 – Perez with a lead right and a front kick. Outside leg kick. Wade charges in against the fence. Perez reverses and they separate. Wade with a right. He whiffed on a kick and Perez took him down. Wade swept him almost immediately. Perez doing his best to escape but can’t get Wade off of him. He finally scoots to the fence and gets to his feet, but Wade presses him against the fence. They finally break with 30 seconds to go. Wade immediately went for another takedown and and ate a knee coming in. He landed some hammerfists as Wade just held onto a leg. 10-9 and 30-27 Wade.
