Aside from the UFC on FUEL 9 main-event fight which suffered a late opponent change, no fight had more lopsided odds than the main-card opener between Akira Corassani and Robbie Peralta.

Peralta’s reputation as a heavy-handed bomber along with an impressive 10-fight unbeaten streak made him a significant favorite in the eyes of most, with the betting line setting around four-and-a-half to one in his favor. But it was the hometown kid Corassani who made good, upsetting Peralta in a unanimous decision.

The judges scored it 30-27, 30-27, 29-28.

Corassani used movement, range and angles to stay away from Peralta’s power, even though he did taste it in the second, getting staggered with a sharp left hook. But he also flashed his own striking in the same round, drilling Peralta with an overhand right that wobbled his opponent.

Because the second round was close and up for grabs, Corassani sealed the deal in the third with several takedowns.

Corassani’s win makes him 11-3 with 1 no contest, while the end of Peralta’s successful run makes him 16-4 with 1 no contest.
