An unconfirmed report from Tatame.com has Brazilian Rodrigo Damm (10-6) taking on Japanese fighter Mizuto Hirota (14-6-1) at this June’s upcoming UFC on FUEL TV 10 event.
The website did not disclose which weight division the two would compete at but will likely meet featherweight as both fighters fought at 145-lbs in their last matches.
UFC on FUEL TV 10 (aka UFC on Fuel TV: Nogueira vs. Werdum) is expected to take place on June 8, 2013 at Ginásio Paulo Sarasate in Fortaleza, Brazil. TUF Brazil 2 opposing coaches Antônio Rodrigo Nogueira and Fabricio Werdum are expected to headline the television event.
Damm appeared on season of TUF Brazil, competing as a member of Team Belfort, and was forced to leave the show due to health problems. He debuted at UFC 147, competing against TUF rival Anistavio Medeiros and picked up a first round submission win as well as a “Submission of the Night” bonus. He then lost a split decision to Antonio Carvalho at UFC 154.
Hirota looks to end a two-fight losing skid after debuting in the Octagon this month at UFC on FUEL TV 8. Hirota, who also made his 145-lbs debut, lost a unanimous decision to Rani Yahya at the Japanese event. Prior to that Hirota debuted in the Strikeforce cage, losing to Pat Healy by decision in July 2012.
