Having dropped his UFC debut in October, bantamweight Joseph Sandoval (6-1) will get a second chance to earn his first Octagon win when he meets promotion newcomer Nick Denis (10-2) at next months UFC on FX: Guilard vs. Miller event.

News of the matchup was announced by promotion officials via Twitter (@ufc) on Wednesday.

UFC on FX 1 (aka UFC on FX: Guillard vs. Miller & UFC Fight Night 26) is scheduled to take place on January 20th at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennesse. The event is headlined by a lightweight bout between Melvin Guillard vs. Jim Miller.

Sandoval dropped his debut to Walel Watson at the UFC on Versus 6 event on October 1st, which was also his first pro-loss after winning six straight. The Texas based fighter, who had all of his pro-matches under the Shark Fights banner, stopped three of his opponents with his fists and earned three unanimous decision wins.

Denis, who is based out of Ontario, Canada was last in action in October, earning a second round victory by knockout after slamming opponent Nick Mamalis into the mat at a Wreck MMA event. The bantamweight finished each opponent in his ten wins, nine by (T)KO and one by submission. Denis is a former KOTC Canada bantamweight champ, with a couple of bouts under the Sengoku banner.

Looking at both fighters records, you just know this is going to be one of those exciting fights where two guys with lots of energy go all out. Someone is getting KO’d, I just don’t know who.
