On Tuesday, the judges and referees were selected for the fights scheduled for next month’s landmark UFC 200 event.

Veteran referee “Big” John McCarthy was selected for the Daniel Cormier vs. Jon Jones main event, which immediately prompted the Jones camp to file a protest.

Nevada Athletic Commission director Bob Bennett addressed the protest by the Jones camp. He stated the following to MMAFighting.com:

“Earlier this morning, I did receive at 8:18 an e-mail from the Jones camp, from Mr. (Malki) Kawa, expressing his concerns regarding referee John McCarthy in this fight,” Bennett said. “Upon review of his complaints or his concerns, I did some research, and I certainly respect the comments that he made, but I do not think they are significant enough to deter me from moving from my initial recommendation.”

The judges selected for the Cormier-Jones 2 fight for the Light Heavyweight Championship are Las Vegas regulars Derek Cleary, Sal D’Amato, and Glenn Trowbridge.

Referees and judges were also chosen for two other main events scheduled for UFC’s International Fight Week in July.

Herb Dean will serve as the third man in the Octagon for the UFC Lightweight title fight between Rafael Dos Anjos and Eddie Alvarez. The three judges overseeing the bout will be Derek Cleary, Sal D’Amato, and Junichiro Kamijo

Finally, “Big” John McCarthy was also chosen to officiate the Joanna Jedrzejczyk and Claudia Gadelha title fight at the TUF 23 Finale. The judges for the UFC Women’s Strawweight Championship bout will be Jeff Mullen, Marco Rosales, and Dave Hagen.
