In ‘the next couple of days’ the UFC expects to tell us where and when light heavyweight champ Daniel Cormier will defend his title against the former champ Jon Jones.

Fans have been waiting almost 90 days since the UFC ended the suspension it had placed on former UFC light heavyweight champ Jon Jones for the promotion to announce its plans for Jones’ return to the Octagon. Last night at the UFC on Fox: Johnson vs. Bader post-fight press conference they teased an announcement.

“We expect to have an announcement within the next couple of days here,” UFC vice president of public relations Dave Sholler said of Jones on Saturday at UFC on FOX 18’s post-fight press conference. “Things are shaking out, and I think you guys are going to be pleased with the outcome.”

Jones was stripped of his title early last year following his arrest (and subsequent guilty plea) for fleeing the scene of an accident.

Subsequently Daniel Cormier beat Anthony Johnson at UFC 187 to claim the vacant title and then defended it against Alexander Gustafsson at UFC 192.

Jones beat Cormier at UFC 182 in January, 2015.

It is widely expected that Jones-Cormier 2 will headline UFC 197 in April.
