PNC Arena in Raleigh, NC was home to an acceptable night of fights. The card saw three (T)KOs, two submissions and seven decisions to round out the night.
The main event saw Curtis Blaydes and Junior dos Santos engaged in a standup battle that only made it to the second round, with Blaydes taking the victory via TKO. Dos Santos put forth a valiant effort, but his lead uppercut kept getting him in hot water, and he paid the ultimate price for it.
Micheal Chiesa’s third outing at welterweight resulted in another big win over Number 5 ranked Rafael dos Anjos. The fight was a ground battle that consisted of a massive Chiesa just having his way with dos Anjos in all three rounds. To his credit, dos Anjos had some moments where he tried to threaten with submissions, but Chiesa was just too much for him.
Performance of the Night: Herbert Burns, Alex Perez
Herbert Burns, Brett Johns, Angela Hill, Alex Perez and Curtis Blaydes all finished their respective bouts but it was Herbert Burns and Alex Perez that would take the POTN bonuses for their wins.
Fight of the Night: Brett Johns vs. Tony Gravely
Sara McMann, Montel Jackson, Justine Kish, Arnold Allen, Bevon Lewis, Jamahal Hill, Michael Chiesa all won their respective bouts but it was Brett Johns vs Tony Gravely’s battle that won the FOTN bonus for both men.
