UFC 242 led to a few changes in the ol’ UFC rankings lists.
UFC 242 wasn’t exactly a one-fight card, but almost all of the promotion was built around the lightweight title unification bout between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Dustin Poirier. When Khabib emerged victorious, it was a sure bet that Poirier’s standings in the P4P and lightweight rankings would take a hit. And they did.
Beyond that though, fighters like Paul Felder and Joanne Calderwood moved up nicely with wins in Abu Dhabi, and a few other divisions saw some changes as well.
Here’s a look at what happened this week.
P4P – Daniel Cormier and Max Holloway flip-flopped the six and seven spots. Kamaru Usman, Tony Ferguson, and Robert Whittaker are all up one spot each to eight through ten. Conor McGregor is up two spots to 11 somehow. Poirier crashed five spots to 13. Israel Adesanya is up one spot to 14. Tyron Woodley drops one to 15.
Heavyweight – Curtis Blaydes is now the number three contender after his UFC 242 win. That drops Junior dos Santos to four. Blagoy Ivanov and Shamil Abdurakhimov flip-flopped nine and ten.
Light Heavyweight – No changes.
Middleweight – Omari Akhmedov enters the list for the first time at number 14.
Welterweight – No changes.
Lightweight – Tony Ferguson is the new number one contender. Poirier is down to two. Felder is up three spots to seven after his close win over Edson Barboza. Barboza drops two to nine, while Anthony Pettis is down one to ten. Islam Makhachev is up one to 14 after his UFC 242 win, dropping Dan Hooker to 15.
Featherweight – No changes.
Bantamweight – No changes.
Flyweight – Kai Kara France drops one to take over the eight spot on his own.
Women’s Bantamweight – No changes.
Women’s Flyweight – Katlyn Chookagian is up into a tie for the number one contender spot. Calderwood is up two spots to three. Liz Carmouche and Jennifer Maia dropped a spot each to four and five. Viviane Araujo is up one to six. Andrea Lee’s loss to Calderwood dropped her one spot to seven.
Women’s Strawweight – No changes.
