Seth PetruzelliAfter making his return to the Ultimate Fighting Championship after three years, light-heavyweight fighter Seth Petruzelli (12-6) has been released by the promotion after going 0-2 in his latest run.

Petruzelli, best known for knocking out “Kimbo Slice” in 14 seconds at the very last EliteXC event, was dropped in the first round by Karlos Vemola at UFC 122 earlier this month. The other loss was to Ricardo Romero this past summer at UFC 116, losing by submission after Romero secured a straight armbar in the second round.

The news was first reported by Five Ounces of Pain on Tuesday who confirmed Petruzelli’s release with a source close to the situation.

“The Silverback” has fought four times under the UFC banner, going 0-4 and will have to put in some serious wins if he is to ever return. He last competed in the UFC back in April of 2007 at UFN 9, losing to Wilson Gouveia by guillotine choke, and to Matt Hamill in October 2006 at the UFC: Ortiz vs. Shamrock 3 event.
