UFC heavyweight fighter, Vinicius “Spartan” Kappke de Quieroz (5-2) was released by the UFC after testing positive for Stanozolol, a synthetic anabolic steroid.
The test followed Quieroz’ loss to Rob Broughton on the preliminary card of UFC 120 last month in London, England.
The news was first reported by MMAjunkie.com on Tuesday, who confirmed the fighters release with the UFC’s UK president, Marshall Zelaznik.
“The UFC enforces the same rules and regulations as the Nevada State Athletic Commission and takes this responsibility to the fighters and the sport very seriously.”
The Brazilian had won four straight matches to earn his way into the UFC, 3 KO’s and 1 TKO win, before losing to Broughton by submission in the third round at UFC 120.
