Though no names were given, the UFC — acting as its own commission for UFC Fight Night 48 in Macau — relieved a judge of his duties, after he apparently turned in questionable scorecards.
The first two fights on the prelims at the CotaiArena in Macau went to split decisions. The first one, in which Milana Dudieva defeated Elizabeth Phillips, White said he concurred that Dudieva won. Nevertheless, the UFC intervened with a judge that it saw as incompetent.
“Did you ask me sir, if it was true, that a judge was removed?” White said at the post-fight press conference. “Yes, he was. He was involved in the first fight and the second fight. I told the guys to go let him grab some beer and some popcorn and go sit down and start watching some fights, not judging them.”
Gareth Harriman was the judge who scored in favor of Phillips in the first fight. Howard Hughes, who was one of the judges on the main event between Michael Bisping and Cung Le, was the only judge to have been assigned to the first two fights.
