Aspen Ladd was shaking at the weigh-ins as she struggled to make weight for the UFC Sacramento main event.

Everyone made weight for Saturday’s UFC Sacramento card, but the headlines concerning Friday’s weigh-in are all justifiably about Aspen Ladd.

The women’s bantamweight contender came in at 135 lbs for her main event bout vs. Germaine de Randamie, but she needed a hoop as she stepped onto the scale.

In the disturbing video above (via MMAjunkie), you can see Ladd in serious discomfort and trembling as the California State Athletic Commission official weighed her. After stepping off the scale, Ladd struggled to get dressed again, and she found it difficult to do the traditional post-weigh-in flex. A commission member then helped her walk out of the room.

Ladd has had a history of weight cutting problems, including a fight cancellation against Leslie Smith last year. She also had a nightmarish time on the scale for her UFC 229 bout vs. Tonya Evinger last October.

As unnerving as those scenes were, Ladd was still cleared to fight on tomorrow night’s show. CSAC physician Gary Furness told ESPN’s Marc Raimondi the reasoning behind allowing her to compete.

“She did slightly overshoot her weight cut, but she was not dangerously dehydrated. She had moist mucus membranes, her vital signs were stable and within a few minutes she was starting to orally hydrate and was back to normal. She is cleared to fight.”

As for the shaking, he said, “a little bit of nerves. She’s part of the main event and I believe she had missed weight in a previous fight. That was contributing to it, I believe.”
