Jessica Eye is back … but is she better than ever?

We’re about to find out when the former bantamweight makes her “Evil” debut in the promotion’s newly-created 125-pound weight class, designed to help bridge the gap for those gals too heavy for strawweight and yet too small to throw hands at 135 pounds.

Eye included.

Her first assignment will be the rough-and-tumble Kalindra Faria at the upcoming UFC Fight Night 124 mixed martial arts (MMA) event in St. Louis, which takes place this Sunday night (Jan. 14, 2018) on FOX Sports 1.

“I’m very excited to show that I’m much more than what I’ve shown,” Eye told MMA Weekly. “Because now I’m going to be fighting in the weight class where I belong. I know what I’m capable of and I know what I’m capable of at 125. I don’t think others know and I like that. It will be a really big shocker for them. Let’s see what I do at 125. Let them see how great I am.”

Eye (11-6) has struggled mightily in her UFC career, notching just one victory in seven trips to the cage. It should be noted that “Evil” did lose a pair of those bouts by razor-thin split decision and her performances have been better than her record reflects.

Still, it’s not unreasonable to think the promotion would rethink its commitment if Eye were to lose her fifth straight this weekend in “Gateway City,” especially to an unheralded UFC fighter who is just 0-1.

We’ll find out in just a few days.
