The action last night (Sat., Aug. 10, 2019) at UFC on ESPN+ 14 live on ESPN+ from inside Antel Arena in Montevideo, Uruguay, was led by UFC women’s flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko’s title defense over veteran Liz Carmouche, but the co-main event between welterweight contenders Vicente Luque and Mike Perry absolutely stole the show.

Both men went to war for a total of 15 bloody minutes. Perry was as dangerous as ever as he combined his raw power with exceptional technique to land punches from the opening bell. Luque was there to meet “Platinum” with an iron chin and his own barrage of punches, kicks, and knees, one of which left Perry with a disgusting broken nose. The result of the affair was a Luque split-decision win, but the two welterweights each walked away with an extra $50K for Fight of the Night.

In addition to the welterweight throwdown, former UFC light heavyweight champion Volkan Oezdemir viciously finished Ilir Latifi via second-round knockout, Brazilian newcomer Rodolfo Vieira submitted middleweight finisher Oskar Piechota, French heavyweight and Francis Ngannous training partner, Ciryl Gane, made good on his UFC debut with a submission of Raphael Pessoa, and Veronica Macedo scored the fastest submission finish in UFC women’s flyweight history with a 69-second armbar of Polyana Viana.
