MMA: UFC 238-Shevchenko vs Eye

Check out the betting odds for Saturday’s UFC Montevideo card, where flyweight champ Valentina Shevchenko is severely favored over Liz Carmouche in their main event rematch.

UFC Fight Night Montevideo is set to take place this Saturday, August 10th, from Uruguay’s Antel Arena. Bloody Elbow is on deck with the betting odds.

The top of the card will feature a women’s flyweight title fight when the defending champion Valentina Shevchenko meets seasoned veteran Liz Carmouche for the second time. The first time these athletes went at it was at CF3 Fights back in 2010. Carmouche scored a second-round TKO via cuts stoppage.

Fast forward to present day and my oh my how things have changed. Not only is Shevchenko the UFC’s undisputed flyweight queen, but she is also a massive -1300 betting favorite against one of two women to ever beat her in professional MMA. Amanda Nunes is the other for those that may have been living under a rock for the past three-years. Shevchenko began her UFC Montevideo betting life with a moneyline of -600, but the betting public jumped all over that initial offering and the line has been growing wider ever since. As for Carmouche, she started out with a substantial underdog mark of +400, but her line has since ballooned up to its current height of +850.

Pardon the poor pun, but the bookies and bettors are at odds on whether or not this main event will withstand all five rounds. The prop bet ‘Fight goes to decision’ first opened up with a favored line of -150 with a +110 comeback on ‘Fight doesn’t go to decision.’ The gamblers were quick to act, taking the plus line and flipping the odds. ‘Fight doesn’t go to decision’ now owns a stout favored figure of -165 with ‘Fight goes to decision’ now available as an underdog prop at +135.

If the UFC Montevideo main event is to end early, then which fighter will be the one to get it done? Well, judging by the straight up moneylines it should be blatantly obvious. ‘Shevchenko wins inside distance’ is favored at -150 with ‘Not Shevchenko inside distance’ tracking at +120. Going back the other way, ‘Carmouche wins inside distance’ can be acquired for the astronomical underdog line of +1320, with ‘Not Carmouche inside distance’ radically favored at -2657.

The UFC Montevideo co-main event should personify violence when lethal welterweights Vicente Luque and Mike Perry wage war. Luque is strongly favored here with a moneyline of -215, while Perry is percolating around +195. It’s really no surprise to see the line setters predicting this one to end early. You would be hard pressed to find anything with intentions as sinister as the blows thrown by Perry. Add to that, all nine of Luque’s UFC wins have ended inside by way of awesome finish. ‘Fight doesn’t go to decision’ is favored at -185 with ‘Fight goes to decision’ underdogging at +155.
