The headliner of the card comes in the heavyweight division, with Jairzinho Rosenstruik taking on the surging Ciryl Gane to see who the next big challenge is for Stipe Miocic (other than Francis Ngannou or Jon Jones). The co-main comes at light heavyweight, with Nikita Krylov and Magomed Ankalaev facing off.
This is an ESPN+ show and is kicking off slightly earlier than usual. The four-fight preliminary card is scheduled to start at 6pm ET/3pm PT on ESPN+. The five-fight main card will kick off at 8pm ET/5pm PT on the same streaming network.
Main Card (8pm ET)
Jairzinho Rozenstruik vs. Ciryl Gane
Round 1 – Rozenstruik takes the center. Measured start. Jab from Gane lands hard. Front kick too. Rozenstruik flurries. Leg kick from Gane. Slow pace. Lots of feinting. Left hook from Rozenstruik. Jab from Gane again. Rozenstruik catches a leg kick and peppers Gane with a combo. Gane kicks low but they keep going. Body kick from Gane. He jumps in on a takedown attempt but settles for the clinch. Not much happening here. Herb Dean asks for action. Gane gets low looking for the takedown again and eventually gets it despite eating some elbows. He never flattens out Rozenstruik before the horn though. 10-9 Gane.
Round 2 – Slow start again. Nice step-in jab from Gane, who avoids the counter. Jab to the body and head from Gane. Two leg kicks. Oblique kick. Rozenstruik hasn’t thrown much of anything two minutes in. Combo and a leg kick from Gane. Beautiful jab. Inside leg kick from Gane. Rozenstruik flurries but doesn’t land. They trade low kicks. Rozenstruik lands a nice overhand right and Gane backs off. They clinch but Gane reverses immediately. He gets a takedown, then jumps the neck! Rozenstruik squirms away ultra fast. Back on the feet, Rozenstruik catches a kick again but can’t do anything with it. Jab from Gane. 10-9 Gane.
Round 3 – Gane with a straight left right away. Body jab. Leg kick. Head kick lands. All Gane early. Another hard jab as Rozenstruik throws a low kick. Side kick from Gane, and a jab. Rozenstruik claps back but eats a low kick. Gane shoots but gets nowhere. Counter right hook lands for Rozenstruik. Again. Low kick from Gane, and a jab. Pawing right hook from Gane. Another jab. Gane ducks away from a big right hook. Left and a low kick from Gane. Two side kicks and a left. Rozenstruik finally fires back with a hard right and a leg kick of his own. Gane flurries late. 10-9 Gane.
Round 4 – Gane with a low kick. He shoots but it’s not set up with anything and easily avoided. Step-in knee from Gane lands, but is caught. Again he pulls out before he suffers any damage though. Low kick from Rozenstruik. Gane returns it, and lands a jab. They trade low kicks again, this time with Gane leading. Jab from Gane and he avoids the counter. Kicks from Rozenstruik. Body jab from Gane. Again, and a step-in knee that lands. But it’s low. Ugh. They reset quick. Gane with a left hook and a side kick. Nice left hook from Gane behind a jab. They trade shots. Low kick from Rozenstruik. Gane returns it. 10-9 Gane.
Round 5 – Jabs from Gane. Inside leg kick. Again. Low kick from Rozenstruik. Gane clinches and looks for a takedown that’s not there. Rozenstruik eventually pushes him away. Low kick from Gane. Back to the jab. Again. Low kick from Rozenstruik. They actually flurry for like 4 seconds but Gane clinches and looks for a takedown. They battle on the fence. Herb Dean warns them and they break. Gane shoots aain, and takes the back with a body lock. Gane actually takes him down for a few seconds, but Rozenstruik pops right back up. Gane holds him against the fence so he doesn’t get the same treatment as Alistair Overeem. 10-9 and 50-45 Gane.
