Well that’s a bummer.

UFC Vegas 32 has lost its co-main event on the eve of the weigh-ins.

Officials confirmed on Thursday that an injury (to whom remains unknown at the time of publish) has nixed the women’s bantamweight matchup between rising stars Aspen Ladd and Macy Chiasson.

Ladd (9-1) has not fought since she stopped Yana Kunitskaya in December 2019. Her lone loss was a 16-second TKO off a Germaine de Randamie punch earlier that July. She did not fight at all in 2020 after her scheduled bout with Julianna Pena was nixed and she later tore her ACL and MCL while prepping for a June showdown with Sara McMann. Now her return to the Octagon has been delayed further.

Chiasson (7-1) has won consecutive fights since her decision defeat to Lina Lansberg. The Ultimate Fighter 28 winner has scored consecutive decisions over Shanna Young and Marion Reneau. In the UFC’s latest rankings Chiasson is #10 and Ladd is #3, so this was a big matchup with title implications and we won’t see it this weekend as hoped.

It is not yet known which fight will be bumped to co-main status. The UFC Vegas 32 main event is a men’s bantamweight top contender matchup between former champion T.J. Dillashaw and Cory Sandhagen.
