Ricardo Lamas is entering a very important fight in his UFC career tomorrow night (Sat., Aug. 29, 2020) at UFC Vegas 8 live on ESPN+ from inside UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada, as “Bully” takes on late-replacement newcomer Bill Algeo.
Lamas, 38, was originally expected to face rising submission specialist Ryan Hall before “Wizard” pulled out. While Lamas is the odds on favorite to win his matchup against Algeo, the veteran featherweight has lost three out of his last four trips to the Octagon. Simply put, Lamas is in desperate need of a win at this point in his career.
Not to worry. With worthy power in his hands and world-class grappling skills on the ground, Lamas is able to win a fight wherever it goes. In fact, “Bully” has finished four out of his last five victories inside of the cage dating back to his submission win over Dennis Bermudez back in 2014.
In preparation for Lamas’ return to the cage UFC has released the best finishes in his nine-year career with the promotion (shown in the above player). From his submission win over Charles Oliveira to his TKO stoppage over Darren Elkins, “Bully” has dished out some real punishment over the years. In total, Lamas has produced four knockouts, three submissions, and two post-fight performance bonuses as a member of the UFC roster.
Should Lamas get past Algeo this weekend at UFC Vegas 8 he will re-enter the featherweight win column and try to wiggle his way back into the top 15 by year’s end. We’ll have to wait and see if Lamas is able to claim a win over Algeo by adding him to the above montage.
