Press Release – The Titan Fighting Championship (www.TitanFighting.com) has officially confirmed that WEC featherweight veteran L.C. Davis has been forced to withdraw from next Friday’s Titan Fighting Championship 16 event due to a knee injury.
Replacing Davis on the card will be popular UFC veteran Rich Clementi.
“I was heartbroken to hear about L.C.’s injury because I know how much it meant to him to be able to come back to Kansas City and compete in front of his friends and family,” Titan Fighting CEO Joe Kelly said in a statement. “However, we really feel good about being able to secure a fighter the stature of Rich Clementi on such short notice.”
Clementi, 39-17-1, will be competing in a welterweight contest against Kansas City native Aaron Derrow (8-2), who had previously been scheduled to take on Alonzo Martinez in a lightweight contest. Titan officials are currently exploring options for a replacement opponent to fight Martinez.
Davis had been scheduled to fight undefeated bantamweight/featherweight prospect Jared Downing. It is Kelly’s hope that Davis vs. Downing can be re-scheduled for the promotion’s next event on Friday, March 25.
Clementi vs. Derrow is set to be a part of the nationally televised portion of Titan Fighting Championship 16, which will air live next Friday (January 28) on HDNet (www.HD.net) at 10 p.m. ET. The show will emanate from the historic Memorial Hall in Kansas City, Kansas and will be headlined by two-time UFC heavyweight champion Tim “The Maineiac” Sylvia taking on Abe Wagner, a veteran from the tenth season of The Ultimate Fighter.
Additional bouts are planned featuring UFC veteran Drew McFedries challenging Strikeforce veteran Gary Tapasua and UFC and DREAM veteran Jason High squaring off against Strikeforce and Bellator Fighting Championships veteran Rudy Bears.
Tickets for Titan Fighting Championship 16 are currently on-sale at Ticketmaster.com, all local Ticketmaster locations, as well as the Memorial Hall box office. The televised portion of the card will begin at 9:00 p.m. CT with the local undercard starting at 7:00 p.m. CT. Weigh-ins are open to the public and are scheduled for 5:00 p.m. CT on Thursday, January 27 and will be held at the Argosy Resort & Casino in Kansas City, Missouri.
