Titan FC 24: Anthony ‘Rumble’ Johnson Dominates In First Appearance At 205-Lbs

For years fans and critics have been calling for former UFC vet Anthony ‘Rumble’ Johnson (12-4) to move up in weight class, after failing to make weight for a number of welterweight matches. Eventually the failure to make weight was the catalyst for him being removed from the UFC, along with a loss to Vitor Belfort last January in Brazil.
On Friday night (Aug. 24), Johnson made his light heavyweight debut with the Titan Fighting Championship promotion against KOTC veteran Esteves Jones (8-4). ‘Rumble’ dominated the match with Jones, landing some heavy kicks and dominating from top position in both rounds of the fight before ending things at 0:51 of the second via TKO. Despite the boos of the fans, it was a typical Johnson fight with him mauling his opponent from top.

The Titan Fighting Championsihp held it’s latest event Friday night (August 24, 2012) at the Memorial Hall in Kansas City, Kansas.

Titan FC 24 featured the light heavyweight debut of former UFC weltereight Anthony ‘Rumble’ Johnson, who faced KOTC vet Esteves Jones, as well as the mixed martial arts debut of BJJ champion Braulio Estima opposite knockout artist Chris Holland.

Johnson would earn a convincing victory over Jones, dominating the first ‘Rubmle’ landed a few strong kicks early before taking it to the mat where he controlled things from top position for most of the round. The second was much the same with a few big kicks form Johnson before he took things to the mat where he finished with right hands at 51-seconds of the second via TKO.

Estima would just need part of the first round to defeat Jesse Holland, and predictably by submission. Holland would land a solid punch in the opening moments, which wobbled Estima but just for the moment. Estima would spend the next minute working for the takedown from the clinch, eventually finding success. The submission ace would work from mount, attempting an arm triangle on Holland’s left side but with no success and would then swap over to the right, choking out his opponent at 3:21 of the first.
