UFC featherweight Mackens ‘Mack Da Menace’ Semerzier (6-3) has been forced to withdraw from his upcoming UFC: Battle on the Bayou bout with Mike Lullo (8-3) due to injury.
News of the change surfaced Wednesday night along with several other changes to the UFC Fight Night 25 card at UFC.com.
UFC Fight Night: Shields vs. Ellenberger (aka UFN 25, UFC Fight Night 25, and UFC: Battle on the Bayou) is scheduled to take place on September 17 at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Semerzier was last in action in March making his UFC debut at the UFN 25 event. There he earned a first round submission over Alex Caceres, ending a three fight losing skid all of which occurred under the WEC banner. ‘Mack Da Menace’ had been scheduled to face Yuri Alcantara at UFC 134 last weekend but also fell to injury and was replaced by Antonio Carvalho.
Lullo also made his UFC debut in his last fight, a third round TKO loss to Edson Barboza at UFC 123. The loss ended an eight fight win streak for the Illinois based fighter. Six of his eight victories have come via submission.
