Undefeated Carlos Diego Ferreira signs with the UFC, meets Colton Smith in San Antonio

Colton Smith will have another chance inside the Octagon.

UFC announced that the Smith, winner of the 16th season of The Ultimate Fighter, is set to welcome promotional newcomer Carlos Diego Ferreira to the UFC Fight Night card in San Antonio, Texas, on June 28.

Smith (3-3), who defeated Mike Ricci via unanimous decision in 2012 to win TUF 16, suffered a third-round TKO loss to Robert Whittaker in his next bout. Smith decided to move to the lightweight division, but came up short against Michael Chiesa at UFC Fight for the Troops 3.

Undefeated lightweight Ferreira (9-0) is set to make his UFC debut after defeating long-time MMA veteran Jorge Patino to become Legacy FC’s lightweight champion in November. The Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt has five submission victories on his professional record.

The UFC Fight Night card takes place at the AT&T Center arena in San Antonio and will be headlined by a featherweight clash between Cub Swanson and Jeremy Stephens.
