Kamaru Usman is the No. 1-ranked pound-for-pound fighter in the world.

UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman has overtaken Jon Jones in the UFC men’s pound-for-pound rankings and is now the No. 1-ranked pound-for-pound fighter in the world.

Usman, 34, knocked Jones off the top spot after the UFC updated its rankings following the results of Saturday’s UFC 266 main event between Alexander Volkanovski and Brian Ortega.

Volkanovski also leapfrogged City Kickboxing teammate and reigning UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya following his unanimous decision win over Ortega.

Jones, the former UFC light heavyweight champion, has been since February of last year. The Jackson-Wink product vacated the light heavyweight title in hopes of moving up to heavyweight but has yet to make his divisional debut. He was arrested on Friday on charges of battery domestic violence and injuring and tampering with a vehicle.

Usman, the new pound-for-pound #1, is on an 18-fight win streak and considered by many to be the best UFC welterweight champion since Georges St-Pierre. ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ will return to the octagon at UFC 268 on Nov. 6 to defend his welterweight title against Colby Covington, whom he previously beat via fifth-round TKO at UFC 245.
