Amazingly, UFC newcomer Valerie Letourneau did not suffer a broken orbital bone on Saturday night.

Letourneau defeated Elizabeth Phillips via split decision on UFC 174 in Vancouver, B.C., and in the process it seemed like she had a suffered a serious left eye injury. Immediately following the fight, the 31-year-old Canadian said she believed she had broken her orbital bone, however, Letourneau told MMAFighting.com on Tuesday that she did not break any bones in her face after all.

“Very good news,” she said. “Nothing broken, just really swollen.”

Letourneau, who failed to make “The Ultimate Fighter” house on season 18, got a second chance at a UFC run when Germaine de Randamie pulled out of UFC 174. The fight against Phillips was put together on a weeks’ notice after Phillips, another UFC rookie, replaced Milena Dudieva.

With the win, Letourneau, a member of American Top Team, improved to 6-3, while Phillips fell to 4-2.
