Headlining UFC 248 was a middleweight title bout between Israel Adesanya and Yoel Romero. In a bout billed as clean technique vs explosive power, it simply ended up as a low output and uneventful fight. Adesanya kept his middleweight belt, but it wasn’t at all a good contest.

Round 5 – An Izzy kick is blocked. Leg kick from Yoel. Another hard low kick from Adesanya. Another. Romero charges in but there’s nothing there. Adesanya with a right. Romero gets inside but can’t get Adesanya to the floor. Another leg kick. Left from the champ. Two minutes to go. Low kick from Romero. Again. Straight left from Romero. Romero almost trips him and charges after Adesanya. He wisely retreats. Left from Romero. Jab from Izzy. Romero bounces to one knee, then misses with two punches. He’s trying to goad Adesanya in 40 seconds to go. Leg kick from Adesanya. Romero with a combo. Thy go crazry for the last 10 seconds, but no one really lands. They get in each other’s faces after the horn. 10-9 Romero but 48-47 Adesanya.

Israel Adesanya defeated Yoel Romero via unanimous decision (48-47, 48-47, 49-46)
