You know what they say about those who don’t learn from their mistakes

Vitor Belfort said goodbye to his Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) career after suffering a knockout loss to Lyoto Machida at the UFC 224 pay-per-view (PPV) event last Sat. night (May 12, 2018) in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

The jaw-jacking front kick was eerily reminiscent of his knockout loss to former middleweight champion Anderson Silva at UFC 126 back in early 2011. So much so, “The Phenom” (26-14, 1 NC) posted side-by-side videos as proof.

I guess “The Dragon” will have to change his name to “The Lightning,” though it suggests it was bad luck and not offensive skill that sent Belfort tumbling to the mat. If that was the case, then we would have to blame this on lightning as well.

Roy Cleveland Sullivan, where you at?

No telling if Belfort, 41, is walking away from mixed martial arts (MMA) or just UFC, but with RIZIN in full operation over in Japan — where this sort of thing never happens — I wouldn’t close the book just yet.
