Dan Hardy was absolutely fuming about the late stoppage.
As part of the final UFC Fight Island event, Francisco Trinaldo brutally knocked out Jai Herbert in round three of their bout and there was a bit of controversy about the stoppage. Herbert was stiff and motionless after getting KO’d from a punch, but referee Herb Dean still didn’t step in to call the fight off.
Trinaldo showed good sportsmanship and hesitated to punch, but as he looked to Dean and was told to continue, he was forced to hit the unconscious and defenseless Herbert a couple more times. Dan Hardy was livid from the commentary booth, shouting at Dean for not stopping it earlier.

After the contest, Hardy was also seen arguing and fuming at the referee for allowing all those unnecessary strikes.
“I’m doing my job, now you do yours!” Hardy told Dean. “Gotta look out for these fighters, my goodness!”

Fellow UFC commentator Paul Felder also discussed the matter after.
“His job is to protect the fighter,” Felder said. “I don’t care if there’s one second left on the clock. If he’s knocked out and his stiff — look at that fight again, and look at his hands and where its at!
“Just because he’s doing this, stiff, doesn’t mean he’s defending punches!” Felder exclaimed. “If Trinaldo can stand over you — being the scary man that he is — for a good three seconds without having to punch, and you don’t move, you’re out!”
“He ate shots that he didn’t have to eat!” Felder said.
