Merab Dvalishvili may have a title fight coming up against Sean O’Malley at Noche UFC next month, but that didn’t stop the UFC bantamweight contender from nearly brawling in the crowd earlier tonight (Fri., Aug. 16, 2024) at the Craig Jones Invitational (results HERE). The event took place from inside Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Despite being in training for his first UFC title fight, Dvalishvili decided to confront a heckler in the crowd at CJI and nearly took his head off. The specifics of the incident aren’t completely known, but apparently this guy was saying some stuff Merab did not like.
That’s when Dvalishvili jumped over the railing into the crowd and proceeded to make his up the stairs. One innocent bystander got out of dodge the second Dvalishvili climbed the divider. As Merab approached his heckler the man clearly made a gesture that he wanted no smoke whatsoever. Dvalishvili grabbed him by the hair and gave him a quick tug before security cut in and ushered the UFC contender back down the stairs.
The whole thing lasted about 30 seconds, but it could have quickly escalated into something neither Dvalishvili or the heckler would have wanted. Luckily, Dvalishvili kept his cool and only gave the yappy rando a stern warning.
