In a fight that never got out of first gear, Israel Adesanya defeated Yoel Romero by unanimous decision in the main event of UFC 248.

Although it wasn’t the fight that everyone wanted to see, ?Israel Adesanya defended his UFC middleweight ?title with a unanimous decision win against Yoel Romero in the main event of UFC 248.

What was the high point of the fight?

At the start of the first round Romero stood with his hands up and didn’t move a muscle?, the crowd began to get restless with the lack of action in the first round?. Romero landed a big overhand left? that clearly caught Adesanya’s attention. Romero swarmed Adesanya in the second round and landed some strikes but Adesanya did a good job of defending.

Adesanya had a better third round by picking off Romero at range with some good leg and body kicks. An eye poke on the break from Adesanya halted the action in the fourth round as the doctor took a quick look at Romero’s eye. The slow pace of the fight continued into the fifth round?, as both men landed little strikes? but it was still Adesanya landing more frequently?.

Where do the two go from here?

Adesanya made it clear in his post-fight interview that although the fight didn’t go the way he wanted, he did ?what he needed to do to get the win. “The Last Stylebender”? ?said it will be Paulo Costa he will be facing next in the octagon.

Despite being the one who wasn’t really engaging in the fight, Romero expressed his frustration in his post fight interview with Adesanya for refusing to engage. It’s hard to say what is next for Romero at this stage given he is 0-3 in his last three UFC fights??

Watch it now, later or never?

It wasn’t the best title fight at all, but there were still some good parts to watch. Watch it later… or never.
