Former UFC bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling is looking to continue his winnings ways at featherweight next weekend against undefeated contender Movsar Evloev at UFC 310 in Las Vegas, Nevada, and “Funk Master” is training with the very best to prepare for his matchup.
Sterling, who held the UFC bantamweight title from 2021-2023, is coming off a victorious return to 145 pounds with a one-sided decision win over Calvin Kattar at UFC 300 this past April. It was Sterling’s first appearance at featherweight since 2011. The former UFC champion looked pretty good in his beatdown over Kattar, but fight fans need to see more.
Luckily for Sterling, he’ll have another chance to shine in 2024 as he matches up against Evloev at the stacked UFC 310 event on Dec. 7. It will be a tremendous test for “Funk Master” as Evloev is undefeated at 18-0 and one of the most dominant takedown artists in the division today.
That may seem like a stiff test for any rising contender at 145 pounds, but Sterling is a top-flight grappler in his own right. “Funk Master” is regarded as one of the most skilled submission specialists in any of the lower weight classes and has never been submitted in his 28-fight professional career. Sterling has been sharpening his ground skills against UFC bantamweight champion Merab Dvalishvili for years now and is usually getting the best of the Georgian fighter on the mats.
Just ask Dvalishvili himself, who claims Sterling “smashes” him during training and is ready to put on a clinic at UFC 310. Check it out below:

Merab admitted that Sterling ‘smashes’ him in grappling and said he’ll do the same to Movsar Evloev
