One of the most unexpected comebacks will go down this September as former heavyweight world champion Mike Tyson steps back inside of the boxing ring for a eight-round exhibition match against fellow legend Roy Jones Jr. It will be the first time “Iron Mike” is competing since a loss to Kevin McBride over 15 years ago.

Despite Tyson being a 54-year-old shell of his former self, the infamous knockout artist will test his luck once more against Jones when the two meet on Sept. 12 from inside Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California. The card will air live on pay-per-view (PPV).

While Tyson hasn’t fought in quite some time the hype surrounding his return to the ring remains off the chart. As a matter of fact, the combat sports world practically blew up back in May when Tyson released a video showing his impressive, and very powerful, pad work (see it HERE). The former heavyweight champion has released countless videos since then showing off his skills and ability at his older age.

In addition, Tyson just released the above promo video to his Twitter account, issuing fight fans a brief look inside his upcoming matchup with Jones Jr., which goes down in less than two months. Although limited, the teaser video certainly gets the blood boiling.

As of now, fight fans really don’t know what to expect from the scheduled heavyweight affair. Tyson hasn’t fought in over 15 years, while Jones Jr. last competed back in 2018. Jones Jr. has fought at heavyweight before — even winning the WBA title in 2003 — but he definitely lacks the same raw power and finishing ability as “Iron Mike.”

It’s going to be an interesting matchup to say the least. And it’s going to be even more interesting to see how many PPV buys the two 50-year-old veterans can bring in.

What say you, Maniacs? Does this eight-round bout have a chance to be one of 2020’s most appealing fights?

Sound off!
