Tyson Fury entertained in his first appearance in Las Vegas, Nevada. Watch his win vs. Tom Schwarz.
Tyson Fury (28-0-1, 20 KOs) made the most of his Las Vegas debut, as he put on a clinic against Tom Schwarz (24-1, 16 KOs) in Saturday night’s Top Rank on ESPN+ main event.
In the first fight of his reported $100 million deal with Top Rank/ESPN, Fury was the heavy favorite against the unheralded German, and he made sure he showed that he is several classes above Schwarz in the fight game.
Fury’s jab, head movement, and precise punching broke Schwarz down to the point of bloodying up (and possibly breaking) his nose. After masterfully avoiding several of Tom’s punches while against the ropes, Fury went on the attack and scored a knockdown late in round two. Sensing the finish, Fury beat up Schwarz against the ropes and forced Kenny Bayless to intervene. Needless to say, it’s good for Fury that he entertained the crowd and put away an overmatched opponent early.

Tyson is still the lineal heavyweight champion (by virtue of his 2015 victory over Wladimir Klitschko) and this certainly preserves the planned rematch with WBC heavyweight champ Deontay Wilder (41-0-1, 40 KOs) for early 2020. It is expected that Fury will return to the ring on Sept. 21 or Oct. 5 against an opponent TBD, while Wilder rematches Luis Ortiz sometime in the fall.
Oh yeah, and in case you’re wondering, Fury was Apollo Creed for his walkout, then “Gypsy King” crossed with Steven Tyler in the post-fight interview.
