The highly-anticipated Featherweight title fight between division king, Alexander Volkanovski, and Brian Ortega will have to wait a little while longer. That’s because the two are set to serve as coaches for the upcoming return of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) which is set to return later this year.

That’s according to ESPN, who got the word straight from Dana White’s mouth. While a date for season 29 of the reality series isn’t official, Volkanovski and Ortega will fight at the conclusion of the show.

The two were set to throw down in the co-main event of UFC 260 last Sat. night (April 27) but the fight was canceled after Volkanovski tested positive for COVID-19 once inside the UFC bubble. Volkanovski is riding a 19-fight win streak and is coming of back-to-back championship wins over Max Holloway.

Ortega, meanwhile, earned his second shot at winning the 145-pound title by defeating Chan Sung Jung at UFC Fight Island 6 in Oct. 2020, his first win since coming up short against Holloway in his first title shot.
