According to multiple reports, troubled former Bellator and UFC fighter Jon Koppenhaver, a.k.a. War Machine, attempted suicide in his Las Vegas jail cell on Tuesday night.

The Las Vegas Review Journal confirmed the incident at Clark County Detention Center with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police. TMZ.com originally reported the incident.

According to the reports, Koppenhaver was found laying on the floor of his cell with his feet raised on his bunk bed. A piece of linen was tied to the leg of the bed on one end and around his neck on the other.

Koppenhaver was initially unresponsive when discovered by a jail guard, but came to after the guard cut the sheet. Koppenhaver has been placed on suicide watch in a medical isolation unit. What is believed to be a suicide note was found on the scene.

The former fighter faces a wide variety of charges, the most serious of which is a charge of attempted murder, stemming from an August incident in Nevada in which his then-girlfriend, Christy Mack, and her friend, Corey Thomas, were allegedly viciously beaten by Koppenhaver.
