One of the biggest boxing fights in recent history will unfold tomorrow night (Sat., Feb. 22, 2020) live on ESPN+ PPV from inside MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, as reigning WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder (42-0-1, 41 KO) defends his title in a main event rematch with English superstar Tyson Fury (29-0-1, 20 KOs). The two men will also be competing for the vacant The Ring and lineal heavyweight titles.
It goes without saying, but this is a massive showdown for multiple reasons. Not only are Wilder and Fury two undefeated heavyweight kings who have decimated their competition to date, but the towering heavyweights fought to an unforgettable draw back in 2018. It was the first time either fighter failed to get their hand raised and remains the only blemish on their otherwise perfect boxing records.
Leading into the highly-anticipated rematch, Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) was kind enough to release the full fight video for Wilder and Fury’s first encounter nearly 15 months ago. It can been seen in the above video player.
As you may already know, both heavyweights went toe-to-toe over the course of 12 exciting rounds. Fury seemed to pull away from “Bronze Bomber” in the later frames but a monstrous knockdown by Wilder nearly put the Englishman to sleep. Fury somehow survived Wilder’s infamous knockout blow and got back to his feet to finish the fight, which ended in a split draw.
Only time will tell if Wilder is able to do similar damage to Fury in their rematch. If “Bronze Bomber” is unable to land his power early he may be in for a long night against the more tactical striking of “Gypsy King.”
MMAmania.com will deliver LIVE coverage of the Wilder-Fury main event this weekend, which caps off a four-fight ESPN+ pay-per-view (PPV) event that starts at 9 p.m. ET.
