Aaron Simpson
A welterweight bout between UFC fighters Aaron ‘A-Train’ Simpson (12-3) and Mike Pierce (14-5) looks set for the upcoming UFC on FX 5 event this October.
News of the bout was confirmed by Ariel Helwani for MMAFighting.com on Thursday.
UFC on FX: Browne vs. Silva is expected to take place on October 5 at the Target Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Simpson debuted at 170-lbs in his last fight, winning a unanimous decision over Kenny Robertson at UFC on FUEL TV 4 last month. The victory put Simpson back on the winning track after a split decision loss to Ronny Markes at UFC on FUEL TV 1 in February. That defeat ended a three fight win streak for ‘A-Train.’
Pierce has traded losses for wins over his last four bouts, going 2-2 inside the Octagon. The Oregon wrestler won a unanimous decision last June over Carlos Eduardo Rocha at the UFC on FX 3 show. His last loss ended in a split decision defeat versus Josh Koscheck in February at UFC 143.
