Did I call it, or did I call it? Hunt knocks out Skyscraper in the third round, and best of all he didn’t look half bad doing it. Sure they both looked a little sloppy, but Hunt is coming off almost a year layoff. What was surprising, was that throw he had on Struve, not to mention the fact that he passed the Skyscrapers guard on multiple occasions. So with this win, we’re left with the question, what’s next for the Super Samoan Mark Hunt? These are some of my ideas.

The winner of JDS vs Overeem:  This fight is interesting as it is; whoever wins should be a great test for Mark Hunt. Unfortunately I think JDS is going to win, not that JDS vs Hunt won’t be a great fight, but I think a rematch between two K1 Champions would be amazing. If Overeem somehow wins, then this would be a rematch of an old Pride bout, not to mention there is a little bad blood between the two fighters.

Loser of Velasquez vs Silva:  This is a little bit of a longshot seeing that Mark Hunt and Big Foot are training together at ATT. If Silva wins, a match between Cain and Hunt could be interesting; it will really show us if Hunt has worked his defensive wrestling, and it could show us how good Cain’s striking really is. Not to mention the fact that Hunt will probably be ranked around number eight after his win, I don’t think they will give him someone who just fought for the title.

Big Nog:  I know, I know, he’s fighting Werdum. If Mark Hunt is okay with waiting a little bit I think this would be a phenomenal fight. This is a fight that should have happened back in Pride, who knows maybe they could do the fight at the Saitama Super Arena too. I think having Hunt ready as an injury replacement for either Nog or Werdum would be a smart plan, seeing how Hunt dismantled Struve who has a good BJJ game, it would be interesting to see him against a high level black belt; which both these men possess.

Shane Carwin:  I’m not exactly sure the time frame for Carwin’s return, but this would be sure to be an exciting bout. Both men have granite chins; see Carwin vs JDS or any of Hunt’s K1 fights. I think Shane would probably stand and trade with Hunt, but I’m not sure if that would smart for him. Both men are known to gas a little, so I wouldn’t expect this to go past the second round, especially if this is a five round main event. Win or lose this would be an entertaining fight for the fans.
