“He’d be neck and neck for greatest exit with [Georges] St-Pierre.”

Dana White thinks Daniel Cormier could tie Georges St-Pierre for ‘greatest exit’ in UFC history with a win over Stipe Miocic at UFC 252.

St-Pierre retired on top not once, but twice. ‘Rush’ retired as welterweight champion after his split decision win over Johny Hendricks at UFC 167, then came back a few years later to beat Michael Bisping to win the middleweight title, and then retired again.

“He’d be neck and neck for greatest exit with [Georges] St-Pierre,” White said on Wednesday during a live-streamed chat with Yahoo! Sports Kevin Iole. “I mean, GSP left with the title, then came back, won the 185-pound title, and then left again.”

Cormier is planning to pull off a similar feat by retiring with the UFC heavyweight title wrapped around his waist and his named etched into the history books as heavyweight GOAT.

“The beautiful thing about this one is, it’s probably the best trilogy we’ve ever had in the UFC, and it’s for the heavyweight championship, and to determine who’s the GOAT,” White said.

Cormier and Miocic are tied 1-1, and White has no idea how their trilogy will play out on Saturday.

“Normally, I can tell you what I expect out of a fight,” he said. “I don’t know what to expect in this. I expect these guys to come out start banging like they did in the first two fights. Where it goes from there, I have no idea.”

UFC 252: Miocic vs. Cormier III will take place this Saturday, Aug. 15 at the UFC APEX Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.
